Jeff Foxworthy, Balloons Entertain In Roanoke Rapids
Good weather, a bunch of hot air and a few laughs all for a good cause. No, I’m not talking about one of my weather forecasts; it’s the 20th annual Log A Load For Kids. Roanoke Rapids was the site for this great event a few weekends ago benefiting the Children’s Miracle Network and Duke Children’s Hospital and Health Center in Durham.
Log a Load for Kids has raised approximately $29 million nationally to help sick and injured children. Log a Load was established by the South Carolina Forestry Association in 1988. The program began when loggers donated revenue from a load of logs to a nearby hospital. Apart from the benefits to local kids, the skies were populated with numerous hot air balloons on the weekend of May 16-17, when the weather was near perfect.
The festivities continued over the weekend at the Carolina Crossroads Outdoor Amphitheater when visitors enjoyed carnival type games, food and a variety of entertainment. Comedian Jeff Foxworthy helped out by entertaining the crowd Saturday night. Jeff also helped make one teenager’s dream come true. After spending most of his life battling a rare skin disease, Aaron got to meet with the red-neck comedian right before the show!
Check out the great pictures from the weekend!
