Stewardess, Ginger Ale & Some Duct Tape Please

You ever drive down the interstate and have rock hit your windshield from a construction truck?  That’s not fun.  Well, let’s say, that instead of driving down the road, you’re flying.  And instead of a rock, it’s a piece of your wing that hits your windshield.  Also, not fun.

I have two stories concerning the above and they ironically happened the same day.  I got stuck behind a construction truck today that had a cover…but it wasn’t on!!  So, this guy was dropping all kinds of sand and gravel on my car.

After getting sandblasted on my way in…I read this story about a US Airways jet losing a piece of its wing over Maryland.  The wing piece proceeded to hit several windows in the back of the plane and it actually cracked one of them.

Now, the wing piece only cracked the outer pane and not the inner pane, so the cabin did not lose pressure.  HOWEVER, if I’m a few miles up in the air and there are only two layers of the plane keeping it up there and one of them gets damaged…I’m getting a little worried.

Moral of the story…pack some duct tape in your carry on next time you fly just in case.

It’s been a tough week for US Airways…earlier in the week a pilot’s gun went off in the cockpit.

So, you better make that duct tape and a bullet proof vest.
