Fair Attendance More Than Fair
The drought finally redeemed itself as being good for one thing in North Carolina. The 2007 North Carolina State Fair attendance is up eleven percent from last year and the weather might be the reason.
Can you believe nearly 200,000 people were at the State Fair the first Saturday and Sunday? That’s 10,000 more people for the same time period last year…the main reason: the weather. The first weekend of the 2006 State Fair had highs barely in the 60s and lows in the 30s! That’s cold!
Compare that to sun and low humidity with highs in the 70s for the first weekend of the 2007 State Fair. The 2006 State Fair also had a little more rain to deal with…something we also had this year for the fair. However, Thursday’s attendance with a few showers during the day was still close to 89,000! Don’t you people have jobs!
Total attendance for the first seven days of the State Fair is over 550,000!
Here is my warning for those of you going for the final weekend of the fair. First, go easy on the fried foods and second, go early. I imagine the rain in the forecast for Friday kept some people at home…and if they aren’t coming Friday, they will spread their visit over Saturday and Sunday. The weekends are already crowded, but we are expecting another great forecast, so that should bring the people out in droves.
Have a great weekend!
