New To The Triangle? Check This Out

Hey,

Welcome to the very first post of “Turn Back The Triangle,” a blog all about the Triangle, its quirky side and the way it was before the moving vans rolled into town.

I hope this will also be a great place to share ideas from both natives and our new friends alike.

So if you are new to the area, let me wish you a warm welcome and virtual glass of sweet iced tea. If you have been here a while or maybe even grew up here, please share with me your thoughts, ideas, photos, videos, whatever.

Now let me introduce myself. My name is Stacy Peterson and I work here at NBC17 as a Web Channel Producer. Basically, I work on the Web site. I am also a Johnston County native. Yes, I remember when I-40 didn’t connect Raleigh to Wilmington and when you drove to Raleigh from Smithfield on U.S. 70.

So to officially kick things off, I offer this little time capsule from Meredith College in May 1985. It’s an outdoor concert.

Remember a little band named R.E.M.?

How about Raleigh’s own The Connells?

Enjoy… Love the shorts….

Cool site! I can’t wait to see all your thoughts…I have lived here for almost 12 years and can’t believe the growth I have seen!!!

The R.E.M. and Connells info is great! Big fan of both….1985…I was only 9….but probably still an early R.E.M. fan! Amazing the early days. Thanks for posting.
