Because yesterday was Cinco de Mayo!! Last night myself and a few friends went out to Las Margaritas to celebrate Cinco de Mayo! We were sitting out on their patio (not lounge ) and really enjoyed it, except for the 10 minutes or so that it rained, other than that though it was nice being outside enjoying the Spring weather! I wish I had a picture to show you, of all of us under one umbrella with the other half of our table soaking wet! We went through about 6 basket of chips (everyone said I had 4 of them, but I don’t believe it) and salsa. Their salsa was really good. I just got 2 chicken tacos so nothing really spectacular to write about there, but everyone else’s food looked really good. It was really fun having an excuse to get a bunch of friends together and celebrate eating Mexican food…even though I really don’t need a reason to get together with a bunch of friends and eat Mexican food!!

Do you have a favorite Mexican restaurant in the area???

I hate to admit it….but today was my first time to the Farmers Market after having lived in Raleigh for 5 years, and the worst part is I lived within 10 minutes of it and have been to the restaurant for breakfast, but I’ve never actually been to the market. I went today and had a great time!

There is such a wide variety of fresh fruit, vegetables, baked goods, honey, plants, herbs, etc you could spend all day there. I didn’t have a lot of time today so I just got some strawberries and a lemon-lime-ade. Inside the upper building is more permanent shops and the booth where they sell lemonade and ice cream…. is a must! I got a lemon-lime-ade and it has cherries, orange, lemon, and lime slices in it and it was so good! It was soo good I forgot to pay for it, haha, but don’t worry I went back!

The breakfast I’ve had at their restaurant is also really good. I’ve never been to the seafood restaurant, but I heard it was good as well. Next time you feel like cooking in or getting some homemade baked goods I definitely recommend the Farmers Market.

Don’t forget that some local towns have their own farmers markets as well! Does your town have a great farmers market?

Located in the shopping center on the corner of Falls of the Neuse and Strickland, it is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants here in Raleigh. The chips and salsa are so good! I don’t know but I think they put something in that salsa because once you start you can’t stop! The quesadilla and burrito I had was really good, the atmosphere made me smile, but the best part was this massive burrito. Apparently if you can eat their 18″ burrito you win a free t-shirt! But this just isn’t any burrito not only is it 18″ but it also has beans, rice and a meat and you have to eat the ENTIRE thing to get the shirt! Anyone up for it..or have you already done it? Let me know, I’d love to hear how it was..especially the next day!

I’ve eaten at La Foresta in downtown Wake Forest a couple of times now and both times it has been really good! I’ve never been there for dinner, but their lunches are so good I can just imagine what their dinners must be like! I have gotten a salad with their house dressing and the baked ziti which are both really good. You can tell that the baked ziti is home made because it has big chunks of tomatoes and vegetables in it which I really like. You can also get big slices of pizza and salad just incase you can’t eat a whole pizza or don’t have anyone to share it with! The atmosphere is fun with large windows and big booths which is always nice.

Have you ever been there for dinner before…what was your experience like?

I have always heard amazing things about it, but never had the chance to go there. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is amazing. They have these huge open windows over looking the train tracks and the streets of downtown Raleigh along with the lower and upper level dining area, perfect for a date. Our server was very good and the food was delicious. I ordered a side salad with crumbled blue cheese, nuts, and their yummy vinaigarette dressing, along with a pizza that had tomotoes, feta, and spinach on it. It was all so good! I normally don’t eat bread before my meal, but the bread they brought out while we were waiting on our food looked so good I had to try it…I was right..the bread was amazing! Next time I am in the mood for Italian I will definitely go! Have you ever been to 518..whats your favorite thing about it?
