The other day myself and my co-workers Courtney and Doug (you can see Doug in the reflections :) ) went out for lunch. I’ve been hearing about Tookies, which has a restaurant downtown but they also have locations around Raleigh, one of them being in the gas station down the street from our station! We hopped in the car and drove on down to find the parking lot packed. Luckily we were able to get a spot, but when we got inside we saw why the parking lot was full, there was a line of people getting their lunch! Tookies has sandwiches, burgers, and more. I got a turkey sandwich and Court and I split Banana Pudding. My Turkey sandwich wasn’t really anything to brag about but the Banana Pudding was really good. Apparently, their chicken salad sandwiches is what everyone goes there for, I heard it was written about in Southern Living. I don’t like Mayo so I didn’t try their Chicken Salad, but Court said it was good! There isn’t much seating inside, but you can see Court and I sitting at the bar and Doug taking the picture from the parking lot.

Would you say that Tookies has the best Chicken Salad in town? If not, where?

Today kicks off the first annual Triangle Restaurant Week. Now through May18th will be the Triangle Restaurant Week. As stated on many websites:

“Join our local restaurants in celebrating culinary talents, exquisite cuisine, and dynamic atmospheres. For a fixed price, diners will enjoy one appetizer, one entrée, and one dessert – the ultimate opportunity to experience new dishes or restaurant venues.”

It looks as though lunch is $15 a person and dinner is $25 a person. Check out their website, Triangle Restaurant Week, to find out which restaurants are involved!

Hi everyone! I’m going to a new Italian restaurant in Clayton tonight, called Mulberry on Main, and I’m really excited  because I’ve heard so many good things about it! I’ll be taking my camera so expect to see something soon on it!

My question today though is……where are some good locally owned and operated restaurants in your town! I’ve gotten some good suggestions in the past and am always trying to discover more places! Let me know what your favorite is, so I can check it out!

So it’s not a locally owned and operated restaurant but I recieved this information today and wanted to let you all know about it since it’s for a good cause.

Applebee’s fundraiser for The V Foundation for Cancer Research. They have promised to raise $100,000 during the Men’s National Colligate Basketball Tournament, and as I’m sure you know, this is the final weekend! Guests can dine at the restaurant and donate $1 to the foundation and get to put their name on their favorite team’s paper basketball, or they can donate $5 and have the chance to shoot a basketball in a mini-hoop and score a free dessert or appetizer. The fundraiser lasts until Monday.

img_3241.jpgSo I can’t exactly comment on the food because I was at the Capital City Club for a morningimg_3243.jpg breakfast with Speaking For Women’s Health and I had fruit and a pastry, but I can say the restaurant is beautiful and the view is spectacular. I had never been there before and it was gorgeous. I had a wonderful time and our own Sharon Tazewell emcee’ed the special day. Have any of you eaten at the Capital City Club before, how was it?
