Beach life..
..is really something I could get used to. This past weekend I took Monday off from work and went down to the beach with the singles groups from my church. We spent a lot of time on the beach and at the house, but one night we went out to eat at the Yacht Basin Provision Co in Southport, NC. It’s this little building on the water that serves hamburgers, shrimp, chicken sandwiches, crab cakes and more. We had twenty of us so it took us a little bit of time to find somewhere to sit. Typically you order your food at the counter grab a table and then they will call your name and bring you your food. We did it a little bit differently because we had such a large party.
The actual building isn’t big at all and the most of it is the kitchen so all of the seating is outside. It was definitely a beach restaurant, nothing fancy but had the beach atmosphere. I ordered a crab-cake and 1/4 pound of steamed shrimp. The crab-cake was pretty good, I would have liked more crab-meat in it, but I’ve come to learn that’s very hard to find. The Shrimp, not to sound high maintenance, had not been pealed yet so it was a bit of pain to eat, but pretty good. It’s a fun place to go if your looking to enjoy the beach and all that it brings and know that your not going to have the fanciest meal.

Hi Joe! haha I guess I’m just a little high maintance, I’m glad to hear that it is caught locally though, that really makes a different. If you do make it in and it’s not too busy I definitely suggest the Tuna Steak. I forgot to mention this above but one of my friends got it and I had a little bite and it was really good! Let me know what you think when you go!
Oh girl! Provision company is one of my favorite restaurants in the world! I go there every time I can possibly get there. My friend Sam worked there one summer, and yeah, everything’s fresh. You can pull up by boat or drive there, which is an added perk. I love how you can see the light house and the water, and the fresh air all around you. It’s a great local dive, hole in the wall kind of place, which are my favorite kinds
The business just says that it’s amazing! There is also one now on Holden Beach, same style same layout, and you can dock by boat as well. On the weekends they have a live band. If you’re ever down at holden, check it out!

hey I was in Southport this past weekend also! I was visiting family there. I had a wedding to attend in Wilmington as well. But i will be back in Southport in 2 weeks and will surly hit the Provision co. every time I go down and try to eat there it is just too busy for me. The shrimp is always served as peel and eat and gets very messy, and that shrimp was caught fresh from N.C. waters. not imported from Thailand.
