 Anzio’s Pizza is a must!

Ok so you all are probably going to think all I eat is Italian food, but I promise I eat just about everything there is, I’ve just been lucky enough to have a lot of Italian food lately! This week we held a Community Focus Forum in Rolesville. We ended up having it at and catered by Anzio’s Pizza in Rolesville.

The restaurant is owned by Christina and her husband. They moved down here from Jersey a couple years ago and decided Rolesville needed a good Pizza place, they definitely accomplished that. We had their salad, Baked Ziti, Lasagna, and Cavatelli with Broccoli and it was all delicious. I have to say my favorite part with the salad dressing. I tried their Balsamic Vinaigrette and it was different than any Balsamic Vinaigrette I’ve ever had and by different..I mean better! We were thoroughly pleased with their services and thrilled with their food! Definitely check it out sometime!

Over Thanksgiving I flew out to Kansas City, Missouri to spend time with my mom’s side of the family. With 16 of us there especially my Bachi (Polish for Grandmother) we had a lot of food, and good food too! We of course cooked on Thanksgiving and then ate leftovers until I left on Sunday, but Wednesday night before Thanksgiving we went out to eat at this wonderful Italian Restaurant Perazelli’s.

So most of you probably won’t be heading out to Greenwood, Missouri anytime soon, but I have to tell you about this place. It was some of the best Italian I’ve ever had. Ok granted, I really like Italian food and I think I say that about every Italian place I eat at it, but it was so good! It is owned and run by an Italian family who really know what they’re doing. I had a house salad with their homemade Italian dressing and the Grilled Salmon with Risotto and fresh vegetables for my entree. Then my family and I took home 3 desserts to split. We had Peanut Butter Pie, Carrot Cake, and a Chocolate layer cake. I must tell you all the Peanut Butter Pie was to die for! I am a dessert freak and this pie was soo good that after 3 or 4 bites my jaw was locking from the richness of it!

Check out their website, and if you ever happen to be in Greenwood, Missouri (right outside Kansas City) stop in at Perazelli’s!

IT’S A BOY!!!! This past Monday we had a welcome lunch for our newest CCL, Doug Sutton. Doug joined the team knowing he is going to be the only guy on a team of 10 girls (if you count our 3 interns)! As tradition goes, we took Doug out for a welcome lunch. This time we chose Pipers Tavern on Falls of the Neuse Road. My review….eh.  I mean it’s not that it was bad, they just didn’t have a lot of variety. I ended up getting a blackened chicken wrap which was pretty good, but not something I’m going to crave everyday. I’m also a big fan of Ranch dressing, and their’s didn’t really impress me. Will I go back….maybe, if I’m in the mood for bar food. Otherwise, I’ll be heading to all the other great restaurants in Raleigh!

P.S. Everyone give a big welcome to Doug Sutton!

purple-house.jpgSo you might not have noticed the purple house on Glenwood South, even though I’m not sure how you can miss a big purple house on Glenwood South, but it is a must stop! I was introduced to Turkish Delights this past summer and ever since then I have tried to go back as much as possible. Not only do they have some of the best ice cream in the area, but their Baklava is to die for!

Everytime I go into the house I feel like I have stepped into another country. Between the decorations, the Turkish ladies who work there, and the amazing Baklava, I’m not sure how you can still think your on Glenwood South. When I’m not chowing down on the Baklava I get a couple scoops of the ice cream. A must try is the Bear Claw..dark chocolate ice cream, with caramel and chocolate covered cashews!! YUMMY!

 If you like Italian..

Cafe LunaCaffe Luna is the place for you! Located on the corner of S Blount Street and E Hargett Street Cafe Luna is the heart of the Moore Square Art District in downtown Raleigh. After spending some time in Italy this summer I have to say the atmosphere in Cafe Luna is comparable to eating in a cafe in Rome. The large open windows looking out onto E Hargett Street allow you to see the world happening around you. Not to mention the food!

One of my favorites would have to be the Portobello Ripieno. You can never go wrong with Portobello, Gorgonzola, and Tomato! Caffe Luna is a great place to go on a date or even just out with some friends!
