Did You Schluck A Tree Inside This Weekend?

What am I talking about?  Schluck?  What is Schluck?  Let me explain, Bill Reh has many Billisims and that was one of them this morning.  He told us he was busy schlucking a Christmas tree inside his house this weekend.  Take a look.

Special Report: Inexpensive (Humble) Holidays

The economy has many of us penny pinching…but Thanksgiving and Christmas are holidays we hate to skim on.  So, I did some research and set out to find tips on how you can enjoy your holidays, “the old fashioned” way…just less expensive.
We all know it’s not about giving, it’s about being with loved ones.  It’s about getting that warm [...]

Would It Be Rude To Wear A Face Mask At Work?

Is everyone sick?
I tell ya, it seems as though everyone around me is sick.  It doesn’t matter if it’s my family or my co-workers or my mailman….everyone is either coughing, sneezing, rubbing their achy necks or blowing their nose.  Ahhh!!  I knew it would just be a matter of time before the bug hit [...]

Snow, again!

It snowed again today in our viewing area.  It’s so wonderful to see even if it’s just for a few minutes.
This is the second time this week we’ve experienced a little bit of the white stuff.  It sure would be nice if it stuck around for a little while.  Stick around for just a LITTLE [...]

Family Friend Tom Daschle To Join Obama’s Cabinet

President-elect Barack Obama has chosen former U.S. Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, a South Dakota democrat,  to be Secretary of the U.S. Health and Human Services.
Daschle never strays too far away from the media.  He served eight years in the U.S. House and 18 years in the Senate before losing a 2004 re-reelection bid to Republican John [...]

Full Time News Anchor + Full Time Mom

Full Time News Anchor + Full Time Mom =  Busy, Busy, Busy!
When I head out the door after working the morning shift at NBC17…I often joke, “I’m heading to my other job.”  That “other job” being full time mom to three beautiful children.
When you turn on the TV in the morning people often fail to realize [...]

It’s A Bird, It’s a Plane…No, It’s A Blob!

What was that thing on the Skycam this morning?
Bill pointed it out to us and wasn’t sure if it was a bug or a plane.  He came to the conclusion it was a plane.  But, actually Donald and I believe it was a BLOB on the lense.  Take a closer look at the video.

One could [...]

Reporter Unknowingly Walks Through Camera

In the studio we have robotic cameras which sometimes have a mind of their own and randomly swing around the room during our live newscast.  Well, this particular morning camera 4 was cooperating.  This time it was “talent” error.
One of our reporters (who shall remain anonymous) walked through camera 4 carrying the wooden box she [...]

My Visit With Leesville Road Middle Schoolers

I love teaching middle schoolers about my profession.  It’s such an interesting age.  They are in that in-between stage not quite a child, but not yet an adult.  They are trying to figure out what life is all about.
Thursday I had the privilege of meeting with 7th and 8th graders from Leesville Road Middle School in [...]

Broken Mirror: One Last Look

This morning seven years of luck struck me.  My trusty mirror fell and broke on the studio floor.   So before I said my final good-bye I had to take one last look.

Seven years of bad luck, huh?  That’s just an old wives tale, right?  Right?
