Diva For A Night
Ask any theatre goer if they’re familiar with Raleigh Little Theatre and the answer would no doubt be YES. Thriving since 1936, RLT is one of the countries oldest continuously running community theatre in the county. Plus, no other theatre in North Carolina produces as many shows as Raleigh Little Theatre…11 each year.
Last weekend I had the honor of emceeing one of RLT’s biggest fundraisers of the year…called DIVAS! As RLT volunteers performed, audience members voted for their favorite contestant by donating money. At the end of the concert, the performer who made the most money was crowned DIVA 2008! All of the money goes to RLT. The audience members were so generous, almost $30,000 was donated to the theatre that night.
Here’s an interesting fact: It costs about $70,000 to cover the costs of one show. RLT produces 11 each year. The community theatre relies solely on contributions, sponsorships and grants. A huge thanks to the community for their support and to RLT volunteers committed to bringing professional quality theatre to our area!
