Making an Impression

It was Arts, Research, Technology and Sports Career Fair Day last Friday at East Millbrook Magnet Middle School in Raleigh.  I spent several hours teaching 6th graders about Broadcast News…the good and the bad.  Yes, the bad too!  My belief is to tell prospective journalists the truth about our business…it’s not always peaches and cream.  However, I did stress the wonderful feeling we get when we tell a story that promotes a positive change.

Let me tell you about these students!  They are so inquisitive and had tons of questions for me.  I just wish I had more time with each of the four classes.  Thank you East Millbrook for inviting me to share my TV world with you!  Remember, study hard and keep striving to reach your goals.  You can become anything you want be…you just have to work hard for it.  I’m only a phone call away if you need me.

Here’s the video clip we showed this morning on NBC17 Today.
