A Rockin’ 24 Hours of Booty!
What a ride! I was so excited to be a part of this awesome event. If you cycle and you want to help out a great cause you must sign up for 24 Hours of Booty! I was invited by Brian, a good friend, to join his team, “Do It For Aaron.” Brian lost his brother, Aaron, to brain cancer. Brian’s family has always enjoyed cycling and formed the team to honor and remember Aaron and for all those who will face this fight.
It’s
pedaling with a great purpose… 1,200 cyclists helping to find a cure for cancer.
I was also moved to ride in honor of my mom and dad. They were both diagnosed last year and I am so pleased to report they’re doing well now. Team “Do It for Aaron” raised more than $12,000 and the event has raised more than $900,000. Personally, I was able to raise $2,025.00 thanks to all of you and your wonderful donations!

Many of those donations were made in honor of loved ones lost to cancer as well as in honor of survivors. I wore ribbons with all those names on the back of my jersey. They were with me for the ride!
I pedaled 201 miles along with Brian and four others… which is great because we had a follow up corporate sponsor donating even more money for our mileage. Of course, I can’t forget to mention our great team captain… the BEST captain out there, Karen Sain.
Karen and Gary are Brian and Aaron’s parents and I’m so fortunate to have formed a friendship with such a great family. Thanks so much again for all of your support and I’m already looking forward to next year!
I’m still working on the video but here’s a slideshow of all the pictures:

JENNIFER- Thanks so much. It was a blast, a celebration, a time for rememberance and a time for hope!
Donald,
Thanks for being part of 24 Hours of Booty and the Do It For Aaron team. I’m glad you had a great time and I appreciate what you do for the cancer community. See you next year -

SPENCER– Thanks so much for creating such an awesome venue for cyclist to help fight cancer! I’m looking forward to next year and plan on recruiting more riders. Here’s to Maryland’s first Booty!
CHRIS– Thank you! But now that I churned out the 200 I’ll have to aim higher next year… even more so with the donations.
Donald, that sounds like an incredible weekend of making memories for everyone involved and with a wonderful team to remember Aaron. Hopefully with more events such as this Cancer will be beaten. I loved the pictures, thanks for sharing….
Good job!
Donald,
Thanks for a great write up about the Booty ride and our team “Do it for Aaron”. We had a great time. Awesome group!!
Donald,
Thanks for including me with one of your ribbons. It means a lot to me. Maybe someday I can join you on the ride. I’m glad that you had a great day.
Jeff
LILY– Thanks! It truly was a memory making weekend. My good friend described the day after as “Booty Withdrawl.” We’re already missing the good times. Climb on a bike and ride along… it really is a lot of fun.
JEFF– Please do… I can’t say it enough… it is an incredible experience. As a survivor, it will certainly mean that much more to you. It was a pleasure to ride in your honor. Thank you for your support! Donald
Donald - Great job with the milage and $ raised. Didn’t know that there were many others from the triangle at the event. This was my teams second year riding the “loop”. We’re already planning for next yr!
MATT K — Thank you! We look forward to, of course, raising more money next year and churning out more mileage. Which team were you riding with and where are you from in the triangle? Best to you and we’ll see you next year.
MATT K — Great name! Nice to meet you… Keep me posted if you have any cycling tidbits from around the Triangle.
Donald - We ride in the MS 150 (New Bern) w/the Carolina Brewing Co team and have training rides from the brewery in Holly Springs (generally 40-75 miles). If you like, I can keep you posted with these rides.
I have been away from an Internet connection as my Tour d’Enfer winds up in France, but before I fly back to Canada tomorrow I just wanted to congratulate you on a terrific fund-raising result. It seems you not only rode well, but you have fun too for a good cause!
SPROCKETBOY — Yes, It was a blast. Thank You! I trust your Tour d’Enfer was the same! I look forward to hearing about it in West Virginia. I hope you haven’t burned yourself out. Either that or you’re in top shape to rip up the Cheat Mountain Challenge!
Hi Donald,
Congratulations on the fund-raising and great ride.
Being away, unfortunately I never sent you my much missed dad’s name to add to your ribbons, but I am proud to have been your 1st sponsor.
Drop me a line in 12 months when you ride it again. ![]()
best
HI WILL — I’m so sorry to have missed your dad’s name! I’m definitely riding again next year and you can count on that your dad will be there with me. I know you guys had a blast on the Tour d’Enfer. I look forward to hearing more about it.
Best to you,
Donald
Donald, thank you so much for your efforts! We were thrilled to read about the event and really enjoyed the photographs. You definitely left us inspired that one day cancer will be a thing of the past.
We’re also really happy your parents are doing better. We felt honored seeing our mom Gladys name on one of your ribbons. That was special. I sure Aaron and all the other families are grateful for your efforts as well.
Get some rest, you deserve it after all those miles!
All the best,
Rob & Lisa
ROB & LISA — Thanks so much! It was so inspiring riding for everyone… family and friends. What’s even better is 24 Hours of Booty is growing! In September, the first ride in Maryland begins… and the organization hopes to launch two more cities in the near future… maybe one in California and another in Texas. There is an army of cyclists and bringing them all together to pedal against cancer can only get us to the finish line for this disease faster! Come out and pedal next year! Best, Donald
Nice job Donald! Riding the MS-Bike tour with Team Climb On (http://www.teamclimbon.org) is what got be back into cycling. The feeling of being able to make a difference to people in need is awesome.
And 201 miles! Yikes, you’re legs must hurt ![]()
Is such an awesome feeling. I’m certainly going back next year. Surprisingly, legs weren’t too bad. Did someone say massage?
What an awesome ride! GOOD JOB!!! Very cool!
P.S. Donald, looks like you need to eat a few more meals. Cyclists are so skinny!
JUDI– Thanks so much! Trust me, I can EAT… I just burn it fast.
If I wasn’t cycling I could put the pounds on… especially since my metabolism is slowing… hitting the big 4-OH next year.
Did someone say PARTY?
