$15 Toast

Published by djones at 5:00 am under Training

Toasty Toes on a cold ride yesterday and all it cost me was 15 bucks.  I love a good deal!  It’s especially good when it involves anything to do with cycling.  So, in the “clearance sale of love,” I found these booties for 15 bucks.
I got out for 25 miles.  It was about 40 degrees with a windchill in the upper 20’s.  There was a pretty good wind coming off Jordan lake but my little piggies never knew it… they just happily mashed the pedals all the way home.

Do you have shoes on under the booties or is it supposed to act like a shoe?

Hi Teran, they usually go over cycling shoes and have a hole in the bottom to allow the cleat to attach to the pedal.

when I first started road cycling, I didn’t understand that most shoes allow air in (to keep cool) thus booties are essential in winter.

Nice deal Donald - cheaper than here!

You should wear those to work tomorrow if we get the wintry mix.

I like those. I need a new pair since I destroyed mine. Just don’t hit the pavement in them and they will be fine.

Yes Teran… even I only wear them twice this season it’s worth it. They’re a good fit over my cycling shoes.

Ginny… Fortunately for us all I don’t have to try out my booties in a wintry mix today.

Chris… They’re a great fit and feel… right place at right time. I hope they stay that way. They’re from HIND… but since I never really had to use any others I don’t know how they compare… except that for these are working for me.

That ain’t cold. You southern boys don’t know what cold is.

We had a high of 21 with a nice breeze to go with it. I rode indoors.

What do you use on your face to help with the wind?

Booties are great when it’s cold. My toes used to get so cold that the rides would be miserable at any temp below 50 degrees. Nice job finding a sale too!! :-)

    Don,

Did you get it from Performance?

I’ve fantasized about a royal merino wool covering for my feet. Just for kicks.
