Spring into Good Health
Today is the first day of spring! Kick-start your spring with these smart healthy living tips:
Get out more
Take the time to stop and smell the flowers! After months cooped up in a stuffy gym, you can now get our excercise outside. We are lucky to be in a state where there are plenty of outside activities to enjoy. For example, in Raleigh you can become a member of the NC Bicycle Club or form your own walking or jogging group with friends or at work. Save the gym for a rainy day.
Swimming lessons are important for the whole family
Drowning is the leading cause of accidents and deaths in children. But kids aren’t ready for formal swim instruction until they’re 4 years old, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics. Until then, never let little ones near a pool unsupervised. Consider swimming lessons for the whole family before hitting North Carolina’s coastline this spring.
Consider Becoming an Early Bird
Studies show that people who wake up earlier are healthier than those night owls who snooze the morning away. If you have to have a cup to java to get your day started, there are several coffee meetup groups throughout the Triangle. Taking advantage of the morning light will give you a good dose of vitamin D and allow you to get a jump start on the day.
Think Global, Eat Local
Check out community-supported agriculture. Most seasons run from late spring through early fall.
