For 28 years, the Wake Co. Democratic Party has gathered hundreds of Democratic activists and prominent elected officials together to re-connect and socialize at their Valentine Fundraiser. This year’s event will take place tonight at 5 p.m. at the Wake Co. Democratic Party headquarters on
Hillsborough Street in Raleigh. The key note speaker is
Elaine Marshall, NC Secretary of State. The Republican party also hosts these kinds of events year-round. These events attract those who have a common interest in the candidate or party or those who just want to learn more about the party and the issues that support. Everyone who attends, as a guest, must donate money to be there. No matter what your resource limitations, there are lots  of ways to make a contribution to a campaign or party. Each method of activism varies as it relates to cost, time commitment, number of volunteers and other factors. Those who can’t afford to donate money at party fundraisers, but still want to attend, can volunteer at these events. Volunteers are important to all campaigns and parties. Volunteering is a opportunity for you to help regardless of your financial resources. It also gives you a chance to learn more about the party and meet candidates and supporters in person.
