Restaurant Manners

There is an old fashioned hamburger joint in Elizabethtown where folks line up for burgers starting at 7:30 am.  That’s all they sell: hamburgers and hot dogs.  As a family tradition and for good cheap eats, we go out of our way to stop there anytime we are going to and from the beach.

Well last year, I must confess we were part of a scene!  The restaurant has one long line that you wait in as you wait to order.  There was one sign that has always been on the wall that says to wait to sit at a table until you actually have your food in hand.  Last year, a group from a baseball team, was saving tables; and a lot of people had nowhere to sit.  Finally, I said something to a table saver when we needed to sit.  The ladies saving the table were not very happy about it.  I thought they were being rude and let them know it.  Their husbands, in line, saw what was happening and started making a fuss.  Finally the manager calmed things down and we got our seat, but not until he had threatened to stop serving until they moved.

After lunch, on the way to the car, an impolite family actually through ice at us and our car!  We did the smart thing and just left.  Well, we were wondering this year if this would happen again?  After all, we were coming at the peak of a Saturday lunch.  Well low and behold, I do believe that the incident from last year left a lasting effect on the restaurant.  On each and every table was the following sign.

I guess we made a difference, now I wonder, do you think the manager remembered us when we ordered our burgers and drinks?
