Democrats Meet and Greet with Public Monday

RALEIGH, N.C. — A forum for North Carolina Democratic Candidates will take place Monday at the Wake County Commons Building, 4011 Carya Drive.

 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. — Meet & Greet

6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. – Democratic Candidates Forum

The public is invited to meet Democratic candidates running for office and hear their campaign platforms.

Democratic candidates running for all federal, state and local levels of government are invited to participate. During the forum, democratic candidates without a contested primary will be recognized. Democratic candidates with a contested primary will be given an opportunity to present their campaign platform. Tables will be available for campaign and voter registration materials.

NBC17, N&O Poll: Voters Concerned About Economy And Illegal Immigration, Undecided On Candidates

RALEIGH, N.C. — A North Carolina telephone poll conducted for NBC17, The News & Observer, The Charlotte Observer and WCNC of Charlotte shows that those polled view the economy and illegal immigration as two of the most important issues facing both the state and the nation in the next election. The poll also shows that most Democratic voters are still undecided between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

Voter Registration Deadline Approaching

April 11 is the last day to register to vote, update your address or change affiliation for the May 6 primary election.

For Wake County voters, the voter registration form must be postmarked by, or hand delivered to, the Wake County Board of Elections, 337 S. Salisbury Street, Raleigh, by 5 p.m. on that date.

Cary Democrats Meet and Greet

CARY, N.C. — The Democratic Party in Cary is organizing its precincts at a special meeting tonight.

Officials expect a higher-than-usual voter turnout for the May 6 primary. Tonight at 7:30 p.m., Wake County Democratic Party is bringing 26 of Cary’s precincts together in a mega-cluster meeting at Cary High School, 638 Walnut St. to organize precincts and meet nine statewide and county candidates.

Cary Mayor Harold Weinbrecht will deliver the opening remarks and introduce the following: 

  • Kay Hagan, candidate for U.S. Senator
  • Janet Cowell , candidate for NC Treasurer
  • Ty Harrell, NC House district 41
  • Josh Stein- NC Senate district 16 (Janet Cowell’s position)
  • Cynthia Ball, campaign manager for Jack Nichols – NC Senate district 16 
  • Al Swanstrom – NC House 36 to challenge Republican Nelson Dollar
  • Anna Worley – district Judge
  • Stan Norwalk – County Commissioner 04
  • Jennifer Weiss – NC House district 35

Officials estimate bewteen 100 and 200 Cary residents will attend and breakout into workgroups to elect precinct officers and convention delegates.
