Congress May Soon Pass 2008 Farm Bill

WASHINGTON - Nearly every person in this country could be affected by the 2008 Farm Bill, and according to The Rural Blog, passage may be near.

Although it sounds like something for farmers, the bill actually affects everything from commodities to food stamp programs, conservation programs and agriculture disaster payments.

NC Congressman Issues Statement on Iraq

David PriceWASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. David Price (D-NC) Tuesday issued the following statement on the testimony of General David Petraeus and Ambassador Ryan Crocker before Senate committee hearings on the war in Iraq.

“Today’s testimony from General Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker provides little hope to Americans who want our government to end the War in Iraq soon.  It is now clear that the Bush Administration intends to maintain 140,000 troops in Iraq for an indefinite period after the surge troops have been withdrawn this summer.  However, it is not clear how our tremendous, ongoing commitment of U.S. lives and treasure is serving our strategic interests.

NBC17, N&O Poll: Voters Concerned About Economy And Illegal Immigration, Undecided On Candidates

RALEIGH, N.C. — A North Carolina telephone poll conducted for NBC17, The News & Observer, The Charlotte Observer and WCNC of Charlotte shows that those polled view the economy and illegal immigration as two of the most important issues facing both the state and the nation in the next election. The poll also shows that most Democratic voters are still undecided between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

Congressman to Speak about Israel at UNC

David PriceCHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Congressman David Price (D-NC) will speak at UNC next Thursday, March 27 at 2 p.m. in Bingham Hall, Room 103.He will join the Carolina Israel Public Affairs Committee, Young Democrats of North Carolina, and the Roosevelt Institution to speak about his latest trip to

Israel, and his policy perspective of the US-Israel relationship.  The event is free and open to the public. Carolina Israel Public Affairs Committee, a sponsor of the event, will honor Congressman Price for his support of the strong U.S.-Israel relationship.  


Congressman David Price represents the 4th district of North Carolina including Chapel Hill, Raleigh and Durham.  He serves on the House Appropriations Committee and as chairman of the Subcommittee on Homeland Security.
