Senate Poll: Hagan Closing in on Dole
Elizabeth Dole 48
Kay Hagan 43
According to the latest from Public Policy Polling, Hagan is running a competitive race against incumbent Dole, moving up from the 17-point difference she had in February.
In their summary, PPP points out that Hagan had to run TV ads — effectively getting her name out there — but her opponents didn’t run many attack ads against her.
“The result was about a month of an opportunity for Hagan to present her message largely unfiltered over the airwaves, and that’s allowed Hagan to pull the closest to Dole she’s been since entering the race.”
The poll finds that Hagan does well with voters interested in the economy and the war, but Dole still leads by “even larger margins” on issues such as immigration and moral and family values.
