When I started asking around the newsroom about Kyle Busch and suggestions for who could come in and interview him with me, the first thing out of almost every person’s mouth was, “Why are interviewing that jerk?” Well, some people actually used more colorful words, but for the purposes of this (ahem… workplace) blog, “jerk” will do the trick. The second thing everyone asked was “Why don’t you ask him why he IS such a (insert expletive here)/jerk?” So that’s just what I did. And he actually had a pretty good answer. Click on the video link below to see what he had to say about that, if the rumors about green M&Ms are true, and which celebrity he has a crush on… and then let me know, do you still think he’s such a bad guy?

The Paralympics are special, but not in the way you think.

Have you ever heard of the Paralympics?… Are you sure?…I ask because a lot of people think they have, but what they’re really thinking of are the “Special Olympics“, a completely different thing all together. I’d heard of the them only because my husband wrote for the Paralympics basketball team in Athens’ ‘04 games, but before that I was as clueless as the rest of you, so I was super pumped to see an interview with a Paralympian come down the satellite interview pipeline. I think it’s high time we all get a clue about these inspirational athletes.

Eeeeasy, not that kind of crush. Not that there’s anything wrong with that kind of crush. I’m just sayin…

I have a “friendship crush” on Heather. I found her on twitter somehow, spent a good portion of the 9 o’clock hour this morning scanning through her blog, and now I want to be (friends with) her. The “friends with” part in the last sentence could be left out and the sentence would still be true. Get it? That’s kind of what a “friendship crush” is.

Heather is hip, funny, pretty, and young. She’s married to a cute guy, Jon; has a presh daughter, Leta (think “pita”, not “feta”); and 2 adorable dogs, Chuck and… somebody else (Chuck seems to get the most attention on the blog). She looks mildly jaundiced in her twitter profile picture:

but hey, nobody’s perfect. And the best part of Heather’s life is that she makes enough money off ads on her blog for all-of-the-above to stay home with her everyday. What’s not to love?

And tragically, Heather doesn’t even know I exist. But then, that’s kind of the nature of friendship crushes, isn’t it? Sigh…

So I’m wondering… who do you have a friendship crush on? And you can’t say Heather. She’s mine. In a completely platonic kind of way…
