A Tribute to Tim
I know this blog is supposed to be about the movies but for the last several days, that topic is not what’s been on my mind or in my heart. I suppose I could go to my personal blog to express my sorrow for what has captured my heart and soul this weekend but I decided here was just as good a place as any. So, here goes.
On Friday, June 13th the world lost one of THE BEST people whom I never had the privilege of meeting - Mr. Tim Russert, host of NBC’s Meet The Press and NBC’s Washington Bureau Chief, colleague and friend to so many in the NBC family, politically-savy journalist, husband, and father.
I don’t completely understand why my sadness over Mr. Russert’s death is so palpable but it is. I guess like so many TV viewers out there, we could sense that he was truly one of the GOOD guys. The way he genuinely loved politics, his job, appreciated his friends, adored his family, and wore his faith on his sleeve, all of this encompassed a man that represents all things good.
I was never much of a Meet The Press viewer until Mr. Russert took over as host in the early 90’s. It was because of his genuine passion for the political arena combined with his desire to expertly cover all news (political or in general), that he roped me in as the ocassional viewer. You could just tell that he loved what he did and he loved the people that surrounded him whether he agreed with them or not.
The world will miss this truly remarkable man. Weirdly, I will too.
Here’s a tribute to Mr. Tim Russert as shown on NBC’s Today Show yesterday morning. It’s beautiful and I just had to share.
If you’d like to share in your memories of Tim Russert or even send condolences to the family, please visit the Meet The Press website.
Rest In Peace, Mr. Russert. Rest in peace…

I didn’t even know about his death until yesterday (where was I all this past weekend?). But I agree, you couldn’t help but like the guy - I can’t imagine anyone not.
