HOLY POPCORN KERNELS, Batman! No wait…that’s a different movie release weekend but still…do you see those numbers that Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull brought in? YOWZA!
Indy SMOKED the competition by nearly 100 million smackaroos! To be quite honest, I anticipated maybe an $80-$85 million draw for its first weekend in release because quite frankly, I didn’t think it was THAT good to warrant higher numbers. Then again, I should’ve realized - hey, it’s Indy! Of course, it’s going to draw…and boy did it ever!
Take a look at the other numbers though - specifically the #2 and #3 movies of the week, Chronicles and Iron Man. There’s only a $3 million dollar difference between them and they brought in substantially high numbers for second and third place respectively. That tells me both movies have potential for their popularity to continue on. I still have yet to see Chronicles but I will.
Just in case you didn’t notice, my review of Indy appears below.
Until next time, see YOU at the movies!
