Winston’s Taste Good?

Jingles are the best……you remember them even if you don’t want to….some of them have famous musical themes, others do not. They come in the form of radio & tv…. Just a few that you probably remember…
Plop Plop Fizz Fizz - Oh What a relief it is
Don’t Squeeze the Charmin
Ajax if stronger than Dirt
Anyway, I’m not sure what I [...]

Too Young

With the recent passing of Heath Ledger (Age 28), I am again reminded of how fragile life is and how you should take care of yourself…you only live once!  This is not one of my more happier posts…..bear with me.
When you think about how many talented people have died so young (both famous and not-famous), [...]

The Gift of Music

Mike’s birthday is today….and for him, one of the best gifts no matter what the occasion is music. So, since one of top rock bands of our era is coming to the RBC Center in March….what better gift.  VAN HALAN!! (with David Lee Roth….not Sammy Hagar!)
We had talked about it, but we were like…do we really [...]

Update from my last blog….
Mike finally accomplished getting through one of the “cheats” on Guitar Hero when I got home yesterday from work….so we have more songs from artists including Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Strokes…..and the BEASTIE BOYS!  Okay, I’m a dork.

YES - I HAVE ONE

A Nintendo Wii!!!
My husband and his friends play video games…Xbox…Halo, golf and soccer are some of the favorites. When our good friend Joey and Mike were roommates (prior to me moving in), they bought an XBox. Great investment. This Xbox now lives at Joey’s house…hooked up to yet another XBox so the [...]

Simplified

Just thought I would mention a band that Mike and I saw last Friday at Wild Wings Cafe at Brier Creek…….Simplified…
Simplified is a great band…reminding me of a southern Dave Matthews/Jack Johnson type feel.  Anyway, I’ve linked to there website.
Check out dates and if you are in their area, they are worth a visit…

The Great Cover-Up - We are Kings no more

Local Music!!  There is tons of music and music history in this are of NC.  Whether you are referring to the Connells or some great performances from R.E.M.  (check out Stacy P’s blog) at Meredith College & UNC-CH, James Taylor went to UNC, or the familar visits of Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings(The Dap [...]

Ticks

I love titles of songs…first - because you never know if what you think it’s going to be about is really what it will be. The best songs for these are Country songs. I’m from NC, so I’m definitely a country girl….so let’s start with country. My recent favorite song is Ticks, by Brad Paisley…only [...]

Top 5

Anybody know of High Fidelity?  John Cusack?  Well, I’m a big fan of John Cusack…not sure why…I just love the characters he plays in movies (but he seems to play the same guy), but ever since Say Anything…I have loved him.  High Fidelity is one of his other classics movies which is based on (among other [...]
