About United Way of Johnston County
The United Way of Johnston County is a locally managed and supported organization. It is a private, non-profit agency whose mission is to help provide the resources for the delivery of needed human services. First known as the Smithfield Community Chest it’s name was changed to United Fund of Smithfield in 1962. Then in 1975 the name was changed to United Fund of Johnston County and finally in 1977 it was changed to United Way of Johnston County. United Way of Johnston County helps support 16 agencies and 7 rescue squads. United Way of Johnston County has 2 staff members, Molly Parker-Executive Director, and Jamie Parker-Administrative Assistant. Danny Brown is also the current President of the United Way board.
