Household Hazardous Waste Pilot Program to Begin Saturday

Wake County will conduct a Household Hazardous Waste Pilot Program in October and November to collect residential household hazardous waste each Saturday at its two current locations. Citizens and local governments have requested increased collection of Household Hazardous Waste by the County. The purpose of the pilot program is to evaluate the potential for expanding Household Hazardous Waste collection.

Residential household hazardous waste will be collected from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the North Wake Household Hazardous Waste Facility located at 9037 Deponie Drive, Raleigh, and at the South Wake Multi-Material Recycling Facility at 6130 Old Smithfield Road, Apex.

Acceptable items include; paint, motor oil, cooking oil, batteries, household cleaners, pesticides, herbicides, solvents, mercury thermometers, acids, bases, automobile fluids, florescent light bulbs, poisons, thinners, wood preservatives, lacquers, polishes, antifreeze, kerosene and fuel oil.Household Hazardous Waste Pilot Program to Begin Saturday
