Wake County To Offer Free Landscape Workshop

Citizens are invited to learn landscaping tips to prepare their yards for the winter and next spring at Wake County’s Fall Landscaping Workshop on Monday, October 6, 2008, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Cardinal Shelter at Crowder District Park, 4709 Ten-Ten Road, Apex. The landscaping workshop will include a walking tour of a Rain Garden, Stormwater Wetland and a Rainwater Cistern, and information on:

•        Soil Testing
•        Lime, pH, and Fertilizer
•        Fall Seeding of Cool Season Grasses
•        Turfgrass Irrigation
•        Mulching
•        Dealing with Stormwater Runoff
•        Dealing with Water Restrictions
•        Cisterns, Rain barrels and Rain Gardens

To register for this free event, call Crowder Park at 662-2850. The Fall Landscaping Workshop is sponsored by Wake County Parks, Recreation and Open Space; Wake County Environmental Services and N.C. Cooperative Extension Service. Register by 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 5, 2008, for a chance to win a door prize.  

In the event of rain, the Fall Landscaping Workshop will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2008, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Crowder District Park, 4709 Ten-Ten Road, Apex.
