‘Tis A Puzzlement…

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer—and sometimes I have trouble figuring things out..

As the King of Siam said to Anna, “Tis A Puzzlement…”

confused-steve.png

And these are some of the things that puzzle me:

THERE’S NO MAKING SOME FOLKS HAPPY…

Ask most folks what they hate most about politicians—and they’ll say it’s the fact that they stay in elected office forever—and they’re old with no new ideas…

barack-headshot.png

So, you offer them someone fresh. Someone like Barack Obama— who is new, not part of the establishment and what do you get?

A lot of folks complaining that he’s too young and inexperienced to be president.

mcain-headshot.png

So, you offer them someone like John McCain whose full of life experiences, knows his way around the beltway— and has been in Washington for decades.

What do you get?

People complaining that he’s too old and too tied to the system…

‘Tis a puzzlement !

WHAT ARE YA BEACHING ABOUT?

There’s an Olympic competition that seems unfair when you compare the men’s version to the women’s version..

I’m talking about the beach volleyball event.

men-volleyball.png

Why is it the men play it dressed in Tee Shirts and shorts—while the women play it in skimpy little bikinis?

women-volleyball.png

Shouldn’t the women wear the same outfits as the men?

Or shouldn’t the guys play their matches clad only in skimpy little Speedos to give the women in the audience some eye candy too?

‘Tis a Puzzlement…

MAN OF SQUEAL…

As a kid I loved the old Superman TV show—whose reruns I watched endlessly.

But I could never figure out one thing.

superman.pngWhy would Superman stand defiantly as the bad guy shot bullets at him— but then duck when the bad guy invariably threw his empty revolver at him.

What EXACTLY was Superman afraid of from an empty gun?

‘Tis a puzzlement!

It Ain’t Over ‘Til The Mad Lady Sings…

Friday, August 8th, 2008

She bowed out—but was unbowed.

And it looks like she hasn’t given up on running for president this year.

hillarywatchgraphic.png

Although she stepped out of the running—it now appears Hillary Clinton has been plotting behind the scenes—trying to find a way to wrest the nomination at the Democratic convention in Denver.

The trial balloons began to appear in late July—and now—with the convention closing in—the “Hillary-on-the-ballot-effort” is bubbling furiously.

Most of the work has been done by various Hillary “support” groups as you can read here

Perhaps the most vocal of them are the die-hards calling themselves PUMA—which stands for Party Unity My Ass.

They’ve been posting videos like this on line…

In public, Hillary’s downplays having her name placed in nomination—saying she just wants to make sure that all the Democrats “walk away from the convention feeling like their voices were heard.”

As you can read here, the PUMA’s believe if they can get enough Obama supporters to switch—they can make Hillary the nominee.

And—as one delegate from Texas explains here, he’s been getting hundreds of emails a day from the PUMA’s trying to wear him down so that he’ll change his vote.

bill-hillary.png

For their part, Democratic leaders are trying to mollify the Clinton’s by offering both Bill and Hillary prominent speaking roles at the convention— but it’s no secret how lukewarm Bill Clinton’s support for Obama has been.

Is Hillary really ready to give it up—or does she have a strategy that’ll leave her with the top spot on the democratic ticket by the end of August?

Just keep this one fact in mind—she never formally gave up her campaign…

She just “suspended” it.

I Don’t Hear Any Fat Ladies Singing….

Wednesday, June 4th, 2008

Five months ago—The Iowa caucuses were about to come upon us—-and the media had ordained Hillary Clinton as the front runner…

vote-2008-graphic.png

Today—with five months to go to the November elections—Hillary Clinton may be down—but if you believe she’s out— you’d better rethink that ’cause neither Hillary nor the fat lady at the end of the opera is singing a swan song.

hillarys-not-going-anywhere.png

As Barack Obama grabbed the mantle of the presumptive democratic nominee, Hillary made a speech many pundits viewed as aggressive and almost confrontational where she said among other things that she’ll “make no decision tonight.”

She continued to tout herself as the best choice to beat McCain—and you can bet she’ll be working behind the scenes right up until the Democratic convention in Denver to figure out a way to be the one who runs against him.

The following clip truly defines Hillary and her core constituency: Angry, aloof, and assuming they are entitled to what they deem is theirs.

There are some who say she’ll “accept” a spot as the Vice Presidential candidate.

But before Barack Obama offers her that he ought to consider two things.

  • She’s consistently displayed a lack of character during this entire process.
  • If Obama is elected president, he’ll have to contend with her AND Bill Clinton in the White House at the same time.

Think about THAT Barack.

Think about it carefully.
