Let The Sun Shine….

Monday, May 5th, 2008

As demand pushes oil prices to levels never seen before—the argument intensifies about where and how we should obtain more petroleum…

And while politicians argue endlessly about our energy policy— a new development could make solar power the next big thing…

Called “thin-film” solar, the panes—as you can see above—look nothing like traditional solar units.

The solar panel we all have come to recognize is a big, bulky affair made out silicon.

Traditional solar panels are rather inefficient, and if placed on buildings—are so heavy that the weight of them requires extra roof support.

You also need so many of them, they really can’t efficiently run an automobile, and affect its design….

Thin film Solar panels are light, easy to mass produce and CHEAP. They show a lot more promise, as you can read here.

So much promise that they say it could give fossil fuels a run for their money with-in five years, and dominate our energy supply in a decade….

Check out some of it’s potential uses in all kinds of products…

Because of it’s lightness, efficiency and relative inexpensive cost—it’s also ideal for homes—as you can see here…

Thin foil solar… Sounds like a bright idea…
